This is a flower growing on a bush in our back yard, although what kind of flower it is I have no idea. The red kind. I drew this in charcoal pencil while sitting on the ground and listening to Robyn Hitchcock.
Right, I think I knew that once. I'm afraid the part of my brain that keeps track of plant names is very small and is occasionally taken over by details of Swamp Thing comics.
You drew it so well, Alex, that anyone with the random Camellia in their backyard can recognize it! It looks red. Great job! I inherited 3 when we bought our house. Having moved here from Boston, it took me a while to figure out what they were. Amazingly, our small Camellia trees continue to show red blossoms every winter, without being given the slightest bit of care. They're so lovely.
It's a camelia baby!
